As founder members and a director of The Sunbed Association, Tansun have always been keen to promote good practice within the industry. Tansun are aware of varying standards within the industry - in terms of product and service, and have always been proactive in trying to raise these standards so that the industry's credibility and professionalism improves.

Several years ago, Tansun worked with a number of other tanning manufacturers and suppliers within the industry to set up The Sunbed Association. This non-profit making trade association represents manufacturers and distributors in the industry, as well as sunbed hirers and sunbed operators. It is the only national organisation to represent the industry offering advice training and guidance to those who need it.

The Sunbed Association (TSA) has a commitment to set high standards, and as such all of its members are compliance tested to ensure that they meet and maintain the Association's Code of Practice. It is only by so-doing that the industry can be self-regulating and proficient.

Purchasers of tanning equipment in the UK should always check whether their sunbed supplier is a member of the TSA. This membership confers a similar status as the British standard kitemark for quality, offering reassurance to customers that every care is taken to ensure their health and safety. This is an excellent way in which the quality of a sunbed manufacturer or distributor can be objectively assessed by a third party. If the tanning supplier or manufacturer is not a member, Tansun recommend that you don't buy from them. These are people who are undermining the industry and destroying its credibility, so they should not be supported.

There are many benefits for the individual salon as well as the whole tanning industry for joining the Association. These include recognition of your business as a reputable operation, offering the same reassurance to your clients that you sought in the suppliers of your tanning equipment.

The Association offers excellent opportunities to gain advice, support and training pertinent to your business. Health and safety merchandise such as customer record cards, leaflets and posters are available for purchase. There is a regular free newsletter covering industry issues and developments important to your business, appropriate media coverage, and a round-up of the Association's activities.
In addition, the Association can offer its members an extremely competitive insurance policy for sunbed operators and hirers. This policy has been specially negotiated for the industry and offers excellent cover for a good premium.

The TSA is the only body which is consulted by and seeks to positively influence national and international government bodies, medical and scientific organisations, and health and trading standards departments. In this influential position, the Association has an on-going public media campaign reaching newspapers, magazines, radio and TV, presenting the industry in a positive manner and seeking to redress the balance in what would otherwise be 'bad news' stories.

Tansun, who are world leaders in vertical tanning and whose name is synonymous with quality and reliability, support the TSA in every way possible and would like to see its membership increase further, enabling it to become even more proactive and bring further benefits to everyone concerned.
